Cutting onions is never my favorite task and to be honest, I always avoid it and have my hubby cut them. When that is not an option or he’s not around or just busy, though, I do the following.
- Chew Gum
- Wash or soak the onion in water for 5-10 minutes – You can also cut them under water but this can get messy and dangerous if you are not careful.
- Chill them in the fridge for some time and then cut them. This wards off or lessens their smell, making you less likely to cry when cutting them.
