While I do not have the dream kitchen currently, I still organize the heck out of it. SO many of you have asked how on earth I am able to get dinner, that too Indian food, cooked in half an hour or less. The answer is simply organization.
While boxes, containers, and the works are all great and can help us all, the first thing you need to do is spend a moment or two and understand the function of your kitchen. How do you use or not use your kitchen? This will help you organize your kitchen properly and to you and your families needs.
Storage is key so I highly recommend you invest in some great containers. You don’t need to go spending tons and tons of money. Containers can be bought at your local TJ Maxx and Marshalls for just $5!
I also love these. If you have limited space like I do then they can help maximize your space (especially in the cupboards) allowing you to store more in one area/cabinet.
For storing my spices, I have my everyday, common ones in my masala tin and then for the ones that get used less often I use mason jars. I find the mason jars keep my masala at a cool temperature and fresh allowing them to have a longer shelf life.
Magnetic knife bar and hooks are great for those with less counter space. A rolling kitchen cart is another one of my favorites to store small appliances and cooking supplies.
You also must maintain your kitchen and create habits. Vow to clean up the counter after every cooking session or whenever you are in there. Vow to wash the dishes twice a day as to not cause a pileup and smell. Keep your supplies organized and ready at hand so you are not rummaging around looking for things and creating more of a mess.
