We all get the munchies. Even late at night. It’s only human and we are only human. But how do we deal with those cravings and hunger right before bedtime without sabotaging our diet?
The key here is to know that you do not have to give in to your body’s deep dark cravings late at night or even binge where you would regret it in the morning. Try to stop eating at 8:00 PM so you can give your body ample time to properly digest your food and as to avoid any heartburn or indigestion.
Make sure you are also getting enough protein and fiber throughout the day so you are not famished and binging at night. For vegetarians like myself, I know this can be hard. Try tofu, nuts, beans, and lentils for protein.
If you restrict yourself too much during the day then you are going to want to eat everything and the kitchen sink when you come home in the evening and even possibly want a snack before bedtime or in the middle of the night.
Also ensure you have a routine and are planning your meals and eating regularly throughout the day. If you must have a snack keep try some of these snacks before bedtime or in the middle of the night.
Apples and Peanut Butter are the perfect combo. Crunchy, a little sweet, and super filling. You can also try a banana, rice cake, or one slice of bread with peanut butter if you do not fancy apples.
Nuts are always the perfect snack. They are packed with sleep supporting amino acid tryptophan as well as magnesium which is a muscle relaxer. The protein in almonds will also keep you full all night.
Oranges are a great snack as they also help in weight loss and can cleanse your body. They help to rid our body of bad toxins and resolve inflammation.
