Sunscreen lotion or a good moisturizer can be substituted for makeup primer.
I use an aloe vera lotion on my face and always feel as if I do not need primer afterwards (although I always do put it on after the lotion and suncreen).
Mostly on the weekend I will go sans primer giving my skin even more of an opportunity to breathe and also because again, I feel my aloe vera lotion does a great job for buffing and priming my face if I were to put any foundation on.
